Ive been in Wisconsin visiting friends and family for a few days. Its been a lot of fun going out goin out with some buddies and catching up with family. Got a big family ice fishing trip planned for saturday at my parents cottage. We most likely wont catch shit but it should be a blast.
I have played a little poker here online and live. I took 4th in a small tourny at a local casino for like $700 and won another few hondo donking around in low stakes cash games with my dad. Online however has sucked. Ive been just firing up a few mtts at night and played a bunch on Sunday. I seeminly build up nice stacks approaching the bubble in like everything only to finish just outside the money on some stupid cooler or bad beat. All part of the game and that shit really doesnt bother me too much. I feel another big score coming soon with how well Ive been playing, hopefully it will be in this weekends big Sunday Million.
Other than that not much going on and I cant wait to get back to Florida and start crushing the 5-10 live games for the rest of March. Ill be heading to Vegas in mid April to play most of the WSOPc events at Caesars and maybe a Venetian deepstack or two.

Superbowl, Nighly 70k, WSOP Circuit!
PACKERS WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH BUDDY SHIP IT!!!! I was pretty stoked about the superbowl and won a few hondo on the game which is rare as I dont usually bet sports but had to put something on it with my team playing. I gotta give Pitt credit tho I thought they were gonna get blown out before that last drive to end the second half. They kept battling back but in the end Arod was just too much for the steelers defense. I really think this Packers team has a shot at a sick run over the next 5 years with how young they are. Throw in all the injuries they had this past season(Grant and Finley especially) and the fact that Arod is an absolute beast, I feel like they could win 3 of the next 5 SBs.
About two weeks ago or so I chopped the Nightly 70k gtd on poker stars for $9,600. I had come home from a long 5-10nl grind at the casino and decided to fire up a few Mtts since I rarely get to bed before 3am anyway. I ended up cruising right along and had a monster chiplead with about 22 ppl left.

I went into the Final table with about 1.3million and made one ill timed bluff along with two lost races and found myself 2 of 4. These guys really wanted to chop as they were all losing players and I agreed to look at the numbers, knowing that I wont chop unless I put my sick negotiating skills to use and work out a deal in my favor. After we saw the numbers I told the chipleader if he gave me $500 off his total I would oblige with the chop and he said yes rather quickly. I was pretty happy getting more than 2nd place money with four left. Hopefully I can keep playing well and bink another one soon, these mtts are brutal sometimes tho. I had a lot of close calls a few Sundays ago to end up losing every 60-40 for big stacks deep.
I have been playing a loooot of live cash games in the past 6 weeks with amazing results. Making over $70/hr and just crushing the 5-10nl game at the local dogtrack. Ive decided to just continue to play more live rather than online mttsngs because my hourly is a lot better and the online sngs have gotten much tougher. Its not that I cant still make solid money at them I just feel live cash games are a better spot and I have been putting in less hours and making more money. So it seemed like a no brainer.
I headed to West Palm Beach, FL for the WSOPc this past weekend with my roommate and man it was a zoo over there. The first event was a $345 reentry event that got over 850 entries. I ran about as bad as you can imagine and never got above the starting stack. I never gave up tho and almost made it to dinner break just grinding away. Event #2 was a $555 buyin and was going amazingly for most of the day. We started with 400 players and 12k in chips. At dinner break I had about 90k and was probably top ten in chips with about 150 ppl left, until the chipleader moved to our table. I decided to play pretty aggro vs him in the early going three betting him 3 times and one four bet in the first hour we were together. Then he crushed me in one of the weirdest hands I've played. At blinds 700-1400 I opened the co to 3300 with AQs and he was in the bb and 3b to 8800. I decided to flat as I didnt want to have to deal with a possible 5bet with a pretty strong hand. The flop came Q32 rainbow and he checked to me, which was weird. I figured he had to have some type of showdown hand, like 55-jj or AK, since he would almost always bet all his air there. I also thought he may check AA or KK or QQ on such a dry board but obv QQ is very slim. I decided to check back for a lil bit of pot control and the fact that my hand strength is disguised a lot and I can get two streets of value after this. Tho this may be somewhat flawed thinking and he prlly calls with 55-jj on the flop for sure. The turn was the Ad, putting two diamonds up and he led into me for 9500. I thought and raised small to 23k. For some reason I really thought he might have AK here when chcking back the flop and then leading. I didnt think he had a medium pair when he leads that turn. He tanked and ended up flatting and the river came an offsuit 6. He leads into me again for 21k which was just bizarre. I cut out my stack and had 72k left and was all ready to ship it in but something was just off about the hand and I ended up just calling and he showed me two red sixes to take the monster pot off me 20 from the money. Pretty weird play and line by him and I really assumed he was a solid player but maybe not, lol. He said he thought I was bluffing and that his sixes were good but that makes no sense because if he thought I was bluffing why wouldn't he check the river to me? Weird. I probably should have shoved the river for value but he just played his hand so weird donking the turn and river I was just reaaaally confused on what he could have. I lost a race a lil bit later for 40bb to get back to avg stack and was out just short of the money. Mtts can really suck sometimes. After I busted tho I went to play a long cash game session and ran pretty good in their deep buyin 5-10nl game making almost 5k over the next two days. So maybe busting the tourny was a blessing in disguise.
I am excited to head back to Wisco this Thurs for a week to see the family and catch up with some friends. However I am not looking forward to dealing with the 12 inches of snow they got yesterday. I'm not sure how I am ever gonna wanna go back to that place for good when its 75 out and sunny every single day in FL.

First Blog!
I've pretty much been putting off starting a blog for over a year now and finally decided that the majority of my poker friends have one so I need to stop slacking and get on it. This blog will follow a lot of my poker progress along with a few other topics such as sports and traveling. I will be the first one to admit that I am not a great writer so bear with me as I try to get better.
I just got back from a week long trip to Wisconsin to see my family and had a great time over the holidays. It was nice getting together with family and friends that I haven't seen in a while since I made the move down to Florida about 7 months ago. The second I got back to Florida tho a few buddies and I made the 2.5hr trip from Naples to Tampa for New Years and to head to the Outback bowl since one of my buddies is a huge Penn State fan. It was a pretty epic weekend other than the fact that my Alma Mater Wisconsin Badgers lost in the Rose Bowl in a heart breaker. I still feel Wisconsin was the better team but was destroyed on the coaching end the whole game. Awful clock management, going away from the run, and bad secondary play lead to a loss that shouldn't of happened. At least we made it back to Naples in time to watch the Packers win a tight one vs the Bears and head into the playoffs as the 6 seed. Next weeks game at Philly should be the best game of the weekend I think. The Packers have already gone into Philly and beaten them once this year but that was when Sir Vick was not in god mode and only played the second half after Kolb got hurt. Should be interesting.
Poker wise I ended up having a decent year at the tables but fell short of the few goals I had set for myself before the year started. I know personally the reasons were because I really slacked to get in volume the last 4 months of the year. I did take a month off for a few friends weddings and bachelor parties but it was still no excuse for the other few months. The first 8 months went amazing making up basically everything I made on the year but then I hit a big downswing which I guess I really wasn't ready for. It made me want to play less which caused me to not always be playing my A game. I can understand taking a break for a little bit during a downswing to maybe go over a few HHs and see if anything is wrong or just to clear your head but to not play as much just because your scared you may never come out of the downswing is ridiculous. There is no excuses for it if you want to make good money at poker, you need to just ****ing man up and continue to grind it out and get better every day. If your a great player volume is the key to everything, it really is that simple. I did end up grinding it out pretty hard at the end of November to lock up supernova status on pokerstars which will get me a decent amount of money in bonuses. I am looking forward to playing more live poker in 2011 once I find a car in Florida. I learned the game playing live and still feel I am a better live player than online so I would like to start grinding more cash games and good tournament series throughout the year. I plan on traveling to West palm beach for WSOP circuit events mid Feb, then head to Vegas for a few weeks in April for the Venetian deepstack and possible head back out during the WSOP depending on how things are going.
I will try to come up with a few goals for 2011 in a next blog. Peace!
